Acerca del parque Wes Montgomery

Wes Montgomery Park is an almost 40-acre park located on the Eastside of Indianapolis. Its name honors internationally recognized jazz guitarist Wes Montgomery, who launched his music career in Indianapolis despite not being able to read sheet music. Self-taught, Montgomery won many important honors during his career, including two Grammy Awards. At only 45 years of age, Montgomery suffered an unexpected fatal heart attack which left the jazz world shocked at its loss.

This park offers inclusive playground equipment, a splash pad, covered shelters, a comfort station with public drinking fountains and restrooms, paved walking trails, softball diamonds, and football fields. The Wes Montgomery Park Boundless Playground is designed to provide all children a space to practice motor function, cognition, fitness, and imaginative skills through its adaptive design. The playground’s platforms are wheelchair accessible and includes modified swing seats to support a range of park users.

Funded by the American Rescue Plan Act, Wes Montgomery will open the first covered, open-air basketball pavilion for the Indy Parks system.
