El parque lleva el nombre de Robert McCord, un jardinero local que anteriormente manten\u00eda la propiedad. McCord Park alberga un reloj de sol conmemorativo en honor al oficial de polic\u00eda ca\u00eddo William Whitfield. El oficial Whitfield, asesinado en 1922, fue el primer polic\u00eda afroamericano asesinado en cumplimiento de su deber en Indiana.
