About Municipal Gardens
Municipal Gardens, located on the west side of Indianapolis, contains one of Indy Parks’ oldest recreation centers. Prior to its opening as a public park in 1952, Municipal Gardens served as a private canoe and yacht club, as well as a popular dance hall. The building was originally constructed in 1920. Municipal Gardens now serves a diverse range of residents including seniors, youth, and persons with disabilities.
Municipal Gardens also features a game room, gym, weight room, playground, covered shelter and a splash pad. Rental opportunities include outdoor basketball court, shelter, indoor gym, kitchen, game room and a beautiful Ballroom.
The playground at Municipal Gardens was replaced in 2024 thanks to funding from the American Rescue Plan.
