About Sahm Park

Sahm Park, formerly known as Northeastway, was first developed as a city park in 1963. Since then, it has undergone numerous improvements and additions to the park and amenities. There is an aquatic center with a concession stand, soccer field, disc golf, basketball courts, volleyball courts, covered shelters, and playground equipment. The pool holds 400,000 gallons and boasts three water slides, lap lanes, and splash areas. This park is partially wooded and features serene trails. With over 85 acres of land there is an opportunity for everyone to enjoy the park.

Attention: Sahm Park’s Corporate Shelter and Restrooms are closed for renovations through Fall 2025. Other amenities receiving improvements will be affected as well. Contact the Park Office for questions or Concerns.

Improvements

Sahm Park is getting connected to the Nickle Plate Greenway Trail currently under development. This will open up more access to patrons walking or cycling to enter the park and connect the park to the surrounding community. The connecting trail will be in the southeast corner of the park, closest to Shelter #3.

Due to increasing demand for community rental spaces, The Lilly Endowment is supporting Sahm Park with $2.7 million to renovate the corporate shelter, add additional shelters and walkways, parking improvements, and replace the 1996 playground, including adding adult exterior fitness equipment. After receiving valuable community engagement, the project is in the design phase. Construction will run through fall of 2025.
