About Sandorf Park
Sandorf Park was first established in 1959 in Fountain Square. Amenities include playground equipment, basketball courts, softball diamonds, and tennis courts. This park is named after Dr Marvin Sandorf, a local physician and lawyer who provided selfless service to this community for many years. Sandorf equipped dozens of children’s baseball teams with equipment, administered free vaccines to Indianapolis firefighters and was an active member of the Police and Fire Merit Commission.
The park was renovated in the late 2010’s and reopened in 2020 and included environmental remediation in partnership with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management.
The park now offers:
- A new Junior NBA basketball court
- Track for skateboarding and riding bikes
- Fitness challenge course with exercise equipment
- Multi-use game area for basketball, futsal, volleyball, and pickleball among other sports
- Multi-purpose greenspace with a full-size soccer field
- Mounds with synthetic turf
