About Stanley Strader Park

Opened in 2005, Stanley Strader Park Family Center, formerly known as Bethel Park, is one of Indy Parks’ new facilities with a full line of programming to fit the needs of youth, adults and seniors. Amenities include a gymnasium, game room, iPad’s, free Wi-Fi, community room, fitness center, horseshoe pits, playground, and a seasonal swimming pool. The family center received more than $300,000 in improvements in 2024 during Citizen Energy Group’s Annual Sharing the Dream event. Improvements to the park’s football field and a new parking lot were completed in late 2024.

Originally named Bethal Park, dating back to 1935, the park was renamed after lifelong Southeast side resident Stanley Strader in 2023. Stader was involved in grounds including Community Action Against Poverty and the United Southside Community Organization and went on to serve on the Indianapolis City County Council from 1980 to 1990.
