Did you know?
Skiles Test (an unusual name to be sure) was a local Indianapolis businessman and philanthropist who turned a farm northeast of the city into his family estate. On his death in 1964, he willed 80+ acres to become this park. It is a small parking lot and a paved trail with several cruder gravel and dirt side trails that take you through a natural landscape of trees, ravens, and grassland. There is plenty of plant and wildlife to be seen A walk to the opposite end of the park and back (along with a loop or two on a couple of side trails) will take about 45 minutes. The park also connects to the Fall Creek Greenway via a spur trail from the parking lot.
You can learn more about the park on the Friends of Skiles Test Nature Park’s website.
