Indy Parks Announces New Deputy Director Appointment

INDIANAPOLIS – Today, Indy Parks Director Brittany Crone announced the promotion of Andre Denman to Deputy Director for Park Planning, Construction & Facility Maintenance. Denman has previously served as Administrator of Park Planning and has served the city in a variety of roles since 2001, and with Indy Parks since 2006.

“Andre Denman has played a crucial role in the redevelopment and expansion of so many of our city’s beloved parks,” said Indy Parks Director Brittany Crone. “As Deputy Director, Andre will continue to deliver tangible quality of life improvements for our residents and build on our department’s plans for the future.”

The appointment comes as Indy Parks continues to progress on over $150 million in park improvements in recent years. 43 city parks are expected to see construction on new amenities in 2026, representing nearly 20% of the city’s 218 parks. Denman replaces former Deputy Director Don Colvin, who had served in several planning capacities for Indy Parks and the city for 35 years.

Andre is a proud graduate of Ball State University’s Landscape Architecture Program and has over 33 years of experience in private and public sectors in community and neighborhood planning, landscape architecture, park, trail, greenway planning, and development. He is one of the founding charter members of the National Organization of Minority Architectural Students (N.O.M.A.S.) chapter at Ball State University. He is an associate minister at Living Word Baptist Church, a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity since 1989, and a proud graduate of Warren Central High School. He has been married to Angela Drain-Denman for 30 years. They have two daughters, Naomi and Nia. A headshot is attached.
