WISH Park is one of only six city parks in Pike Township and the fifth to receive recent improvements

INDIANÁPOLIS – Today marked the completion of enhancements to WISH Park on the city’s north side. The park was fully renovated this year with funding from the Lilly Endowment and Councilor Directed funding secured by Councilor Robinson. The neighborhood park now features a signature playground and is the firth park in Pike Township to receive new amenities since 2023. WISH Park is also the only city park in Council District 1.

“Every neighborhood deserves access to modern and vibrant outdoor spaces,” said Mayor Joe Hogsett. “This completion of construction at WISH Park reinforces the City’s commitment to every corner of our park system. My thanks to the Lilly Endowment and Councilor Robinson for supporting improvements to this neighborhood park so it can continue to be woven into the daily lives of our northwest side families.”

WISH Park is the second councilor selected project completed in 2026 following Thompson Park in Franklin Township which was completed in early summer. Canterbury Park is currently under construction and expected to finish by the end of the year. Robey Park on the city’s west side is under construction and expected to be completed in summer 2027.

“As the only city park in District 1, WISH Park deserves the care and investment we celebrated today,” said City-County Councilor Leroy Robinson. “I’m proud we could expand this project beyond a new playground and give our neighbors a fully renovated park. Our families now have a welcoming place to gather, children have new ways to play, and this park will serve our community for years to come.”

Recent investments in Pike Township parks in addition to WISH Park include:

  • Parque Eagle Creek: the Pin Oak Trail near the Earth Discovery Center was upgraded and paved as part of the Lilly Endowment Grant, this project was completed in the summer of 2026.
  • Parque de las tierras altas del águila: this neighborhood park has a new playground under construction which is expected to be completed in late 2026.
  • Parque Puerta Oeste: received a new playground with American Rescue Plan funding in 2024. The park is located next to Jonathan Jennings Elementary School.
  • Geisse Soccer Complex: As part of the Lilly Endowment, the park has received two new soccer and multiuse fields and a new restroom and concession building that will be completed in late 2026.

“The new and improved WISH Park provides a new destination playground for our Pike Township community,” said Indy Parks Director Brittany Crone. “Transformational projects like these have been completed in all nine townships and are now providing more enriching experiences for all who call Indianapolis home.”

Recent improvements to Indy Parks have covered parks of all sizes from large regional parks to smaller neighborhood and community parks. 124 Indy Parks are designated as either mini, neighborhood, or community sized parks and the majority of new playgrounds funded through the American Rescue Plan and the Lilly Endowment Grant have gone to parks in those categories.
