Seasonal Experiences

Indy Parks offers fun activities year-round for those of all ages. This winter, enjoy cookie and ornament workshops, indoor/outdoor ice skating and hockey, Santa sightings, Garfield Park’s annual Conservatory Crossing, and more.

Outdoor Experiences

Connect with nature and explore the great outdoors at Indy Parks. From hiking and biking trails to scenic lakes and rivers, Indianapolis parks offers plenty of opportunities to relax and unwind – or get active and energized!

Eagle Creek Park features more than 1,400 acres of water and 3,900 acres of forest. It offers a wide variety of activities just minutes from downtown.

Sports & Fitness

Sports and fitness enthusiasts will find plenty to enjoy at Indy Parks. With a wide range of athletic fields, courts, and family centers, visitors can engage in a variety of sports and activities, such as basketball, tennis, soccer, volleyball, and more. Many parks also offer opportunities for hiking, jogging, and biking, with scenic winding trails. This winter, consider our many fitness facilities, indoor walking tracks, and indoor pool at Krannert Park.

Arts & Culture

Indy Parks offer a vibrant and diverse arts and culture scene for visitors of all ages and interests. Many parks feature public art installations, sculptures, and murals that showcase the creativity and talent of local artists. Visit Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park to explore the Landmark Memorial for Peace and the Still We Reach exhibit in partnership with the Kennedy King Memorial Initiative.

Family & Community Centers

Many parks offer family-friendly amenities and activities, such as playgrounds, picnic areas, and splash pads, which provide a fun and safe space for children to play and explore. In addition, Indianapolis Parks and Recreation operates several community centers throughout the city, which provide a variety of programs and services for all ages

Whether you’re a nature enthusiast or simply looking to learn more about the world around you, the nature centers at Indianapolis parks offer a unique and informative experience for all. Join an educational program, check out an interactive display, or tag along for a guided walk.

Park Rules & Guidelines

Park visitors must obey the following:

  • Park hours are dawn to dusk
  • Possession of alcohol is not permitted in parks without a permit from the park board
  • Vehicles are not permitted on grass
  • No open fires other than in grills
  • Dogs must be on a leash that is fewer than 20 feet unless in the dog parks
  • Bicycles are not allowed on gravel paths
  • Private vendor sales in parks require a permit
