Indy Parks Announces Upcoming Holiday Events   

INDIANAPOLIS – During the month of December, Indy Parks will host a lineup of winter and holiday-themed events across the city to celebrate the holiday season. Information about special events and a sample of holiday programs are listed below. To view and register for Indy Parks programs visit parks.indy.gov/programs.   

Holiday Arts and Crafts 

  • Holiday Pop-up Cards at Garfield Park Arts Center, Dec. 7 and 14: Garfield Parks Art Center is teaming up with local paper artist and illustrator Shelley Hanmo to bring residents a class on how to create their own hand-cut collage art greeting cards.  

Outdoor Winter Adventures 

Holiday Celebrations 

  • Conservatory Crossing at Garfield Park Conservatory, Nov. 29 – Dec. 29: Come enjoy our winter wonderland! See the Conservatory decked out in its holiday best with a brilliant display of poinsettias, model trains and village, and thousands of twinkling lights. There will be a scavenger hunt to go along with the train display. 
  • Holiday event at Rhodius Park, Dec. 13: Join the staff at Rhodius Park for a holiday event that includes arts and crafts, pictures with Santa, cookie decorating, and gift giveaways. 
  • Santa’s Workshop at Indy Island, Dec. 21: These holiday festivities include ornament making, cookie decorating, photos with Santa Claus, and an artificial snowball fight. 
  • It’s Kwanzaa Time! At Washington and Frederick Douglass Parks on December 21 and 28: These events will tell the tale of Kwanzaa through stories and song.
