About Bertha Ross Park

Established in 1925 and consisting of 15.63 acres, Bertha Ross is located south of 38th street and west of Doctor MLK Jr. Street across from Crown Hill Cemetary and was originally named Golden Hill Park. This park offers playground equipment, a splash pad, picnic shelters and comfort station, basketball courts, and is partially wooded. Dedicated in honor of Bertha Ross, the president of the PTO in this area and the driving force behind the Little League activities conducted on this spot.

Did You Know

Bertha Ross organized a baseball league for children ages 7 to 15 and raised the money along with local groups and businesses to pay for equipment and uniforms for 12 teams. Bertha’s only requirement for the children to play was that they had to stay out of trouble.
