About Jake Greene Park

Located at 1700 Franklin Rd., Jake Greene Park has great amenities to take advantage of including open green space.  Greene Park has a comfort station, featuring a mural in dedication to author Dr. Maya Angelou.

Angelou was a poet, memoirist, and civil rights activist who received widespread acclaim for her autobiography, “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings,” which reflected on her experiences with racism, trauma, and resilience. Angelou also worked alongside Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr. In the fight for civil rights.

Also featured is a memorial dedicated to Indiana resident Ryan White, an advocate for AIDS awareness. One of the first people diagnosed with AIDS from a contaminated blood treatment, his diagnosis sparked controversy that White, only 13 at the time, challenged. His story gained widespread media coverage, leading to increased awareness about AIDS and its misconceptions.
