About Juan Solomon Park

Acquired in 1971, this 41-acre park is named for Juan Solomon, son of a Methodist minister and schoolteacher. Juan Solomon was highly involved in civic activities within the Indianapolis African-American Community. Some of Solomon’s civic posts included serving as director of the Community Service Council, Indianapolis Urban League, and was a board member of the Indianapolis Department of Parks and Recreation. Solomon was employed for 32 years by Eli Lilly and led the mayor’s task force on employment.  

Established in 1971 and consisting of 42.38 acres, Juan Solomon is located on the north side of Indianapolis. This park offers a covered shelter, newly renovated playground equipment, tennis courts, soccer fields, and ample parking. There are also wooded with trails for nature walks, with Crooked Creek running through the center of the park. The park offers public restrooms and an indoor facility that is available for rent. There is a water treatment facility operated by CEG on site.  

Community Room Rental Information

Rentals have a 3 hour minimum and the booking must to go through the Park Manager.

Pricing:

Weekends- $80/Hour

Weeknights- $55/Hour

Weekdays- $40/Hour

Things to Know:

-Set up and Tear Down Time needs to be within your rental time period.

-You are responsible for setting up and tearing down the rental space.

-Table Cloths are Required.

-There are flushing restrooms (with changing tables) connected to building, do note that the rest rooms are also open to the public.

-The capacity of the space is 75 people (with folding tables and chairs to accommodate)

-There is NO kitchen on site

-There is AC and Heating.
