Established in 1979 on more than 65 acres, Graham Edward Martin Park sits at 16th and Fall Creek Parkway just north of downtown Indianapolis. Formerly named 16th and Fall Creek Park, it was renamed after Lt. Graham Edward Martin who served as one of the first African American officers in the United States Navy. After serving four years as a ship commander in the Navy, Martin would coach varsity football and baseball at Crispus Attucks High School from 1947-1982.
The park will be closed starting in September 2026 for construction that is expected to last until late 2027. Improvements will include a new playground, splash pad, restrooms, shelter, and improved parking lot.
