About Washington Park

Washington Park is a community park at 3130 East 30th Street that features 128 acres of natural prairie, woodland, wetland, open park space, and the Washington Park Family Center. The park also hosts an 18-hole disc golf course, nature trail, outdoor basketball courts, and several shelters. Just across the street at Oscar Charlston Park there are also outdoor tennis courts, baseball diamonds, and a futsal pitch available dawn to dusk.

At Washington Park new improvements are bringing the community together to play and learn and look to the future while building on and preserving the past. Visitors will see many projects in progress to improve this community space, including the Lilly Endowment Grant of $3.2 million to replace the playground and add a new splashpad, shelter, parking lot, and comfort station. The project broke ground on August 13, 2024 and is expected to complete by the summer of 2025. Also in progress are renovations and improvements to existing shelters, continued improvements to the disc golf course, and converting overgrown areas to native prairie land by planting native grasses and trees.
